Year 1 Help Baby Wombat Find His Mum

As part of their ‘Amazing Australia’ topic, Year 1 have been enjoying the story Wombat Goes Walkabout by Michael Morpurgo. The children were very concerned when Mummy Wombat went missing in the story and were keen to help Baby Wombat find her!

Inspired by the tale, the pupils created some fantastic missing posters, thinking carefully about what information would help others recognise Mummy Wombat and bring her home. The children then used their growing knowledge to write some wonderful descriptions of wombats, including facts they had learned during their science lessons last half term.

It was fantastic to see the children combining their learning from different subjects while showing such enthusiasm and creativity. Well done, Year 1, for your hard work and thoughtful writing!
