Year 1 Pupils ‘Buzzing’ with Excitement
This week, Year 1 pupils were buzzing with excitement as they embarked on an inspiring visit to the computer suite, where they had their first hands-on introduction to programming. The session began with a lively and engaging discussion about robots, their functions, and how programming is used to control them. Building on their natural curiosity, the children were introduced to Bee-Bots, fun, user-friendly programmable devices designed to make learning about coding interactive and enjoyable.
As the children eagerly explored how to operate the Bee-Bots, the room was filled with energy and enthusiasm. They experimented with directing their robots and through trial and error, they began to understand the basics of coding, such as sequencing instructions and problem-solving to achieve desired outcomes. The interactive nature of the activity captivated their attention and also encouraged critical thinking, introducing foundational skills that will serve as a strong starting point for their programming journey.
It was a fantastic start to this new and exciting learning experience. Well done, Year 1!
