Year 2 Complete the Sport Element of Their Passport into Prep

Over the past few weeks, the Year 2 children have completed the sports section of their Passport to Prep. These activities have been designed to help familiarise the children with the routines and experiences they will encounter when they move into the Prep School in September.

We began by taking the children to the minibuses and travelling over to the astroturf, where we explained how transport to sports lessons and fixtures will work next year. The following week, we walked to the playing fields together, showing the children the route, explaining the importance of walking sensibly in pairs, and discussing how we stay safe along the way.

The final part of their Passport to Prep was the Year 2 Swimming Gala. This was a fantastic event, and the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It gave them a taste of what a competitive gala feels like and helped prepare them should they be selected to represent the school in a gala next year.

The children listened brilliantly throughout each activity and approached every task with enthusiasm and maturity. We hope these experiences have helped them feel more confident and excited about the sporting opportunities that await them in the Prep School. Next year will be full of fixtures, festivals, swimming galas, Games lessons, PE lessons and swimming lessons, giving every child plenty of opportunities to develop their skills, represent the school and, most importantly, enjoy their sport.

We are looking forward to seeing them embrace these exciting opportunities in September.
