Year 2 Create Stunning Nativity Scenes in Art
Year 2 have been fully immersed in a wonderfully festive art project, carefully constructing their very own nativity scenes. Each child worked with a cardboard box lid as the setting for their creation, transforming a simple everyday object into a beautifully detailed miniature display.
The pupils began by cutting out all the key characters from the nativity story. With great concentration, they decorated Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, the shepherds, the Wise Men, and even the animals, adding colour, patterns, and thoughtful details to bring each figure to life.
One of the most striking features of the project was the stained-glass effect window. Using paint and plenty of creativity, the children designed glowing, colourful panels that framed their scenes. As the light catches them, the windows shimmer beautifully, adding a magical finishing touch to each nativity setting.
The classroom was filled with excitement and focus as pupils assembled their scenes, arranging the characters carefully and making artistic choices about layout, colour, and detail. Every child produced a unique piece of art, and their pride in their finished work was clear for all to see.
These nativity scenes will make a wonderful contribution to our festive displays, showcasing the imagination and hard work of our talented Year 2 pupils.
