Year 2 Dive into Desert Discoveries
Year 2 have had a fantastic start to 2026, returning to school full of energy, curiosity and enthusiasm. This week, they have been busy exploring their new Geography topic, Deserts and have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the fascinating creatures that call these extreme environments home.
The children each researched a desert-dwelling animal, finding out how it survives, what it looks like, and what makes it unique. Inspired by their discoveries, they created wonderful paintings of their chosen animals, paying close attention to colours, patterns, and detail.
To complement their artwork, the children also wrote their own animal riddles. They thought carefully about how to structure them, cleverly starting with trickier clues before finishing with the more obvious hints. This not only encouraged problem-solving and creative thinking but also sparked lots of excitement as classmates tried to guess each other’s animals!
It has been a brilliant first week back, filled with learning, laughter, and imaginative ideas. Well done Year 2 we can’t wait to see where your desert adventures take you next!
