Year 2 Enter the World of Dungeons and Dragons

Year 2 have been thoroughly enjoying their exciting English topic, ‘Dungeons and Dragons’. This week, they have been developing their descriptive writing skills by learning how to use expanded noun phrases.

The children chose a fantasy castle picture and used their imaginations to create some wonderful descriptive sentences. They focused on selecting two interesting adjectives and using a comma to separate them before the noun, helping to make their writing more detailed and engaging.

Our History learning has linked beautifully with our English topic. Year 2 discovered why castles were built and explored the first Motte and Bailey castles. They also learned how and why castles evolved over time, developing their understanding of how these impressive structures changed to meet the needs of the people who lived in them.

It has been wonderful to see Year 2 combining their creativity with their historical knowledge and enthusiasm for learning. What an exciting week!
