Year 2 Meets a Very Special Visitor from Space!
On Monday morning, Year 2 were in for a cosmic surprise when they discovered an unexpected visitor in the Pre-Prep library… an alien enjoying a packet of Ginger Nuts!
Alongside this mysterious guest was a secret note, written in code, which the children eagerly set about decoding and deciphering. Their mission? To understand the alien’s message, which politely asked if he could find a quieter spot and what a challenge that has been for some of our lively Year 2s!
After much discussion and careful consideration, the pupils decided to name their new friend “Milky Way”. Since his arrival, they’ve been doing their best to keep their voices down and make Milky Way feel welcome (though staying quiet hasn’t always been easy!).
The curiosity of Year 2 quickly kicked into gear, and they’ve been crafting thoughtful questions for their extraterrestrial visitor: Where do you come from? What do you like to eat? Who is in your family? Do you play with toys? And why is your skin peach-coloured?
Milky Way’s visit couldn’t have come at a better time, as it launches Year 2’s exciting new Science topic: Space. With imaginations ignited and curiosity at an all-time high, it promises to be a term full of discovery, learning, and a few more alien adventures!
