This week in Pre-Prep, the Year 2 have been starting their transition to the Junior School. Year 5 have led three wonderful activities this week that have given Year 2 a taste of life in the Junior School and all of the children are excited about making the move into Year 3 in September.
They started the week with meeting 5D in the Junior School library to enjoy some reading time and to share their love of a range of books. It was wonderful to see each pair finding a comfortable place in the library, reading to each other and to hear them encouraging each other with their reading.
This was followed later in the week with a tour of the Junior School led by 5B. Year 2 were introduced to important places in the school including Sara’s office, the Year 3 classrooms, where they would go for Late Room and where to find lost property! Year 5 were incredibly good at explaining what happened in each of these places and listened very carefully to any questions posed by Year 2.
Finally, 5L took Year 2 over to enjoy lunch in the main school dining room. They introduced them to the different food options available to the Junior School, how to get their food choices and then how to clear their spaces afterwards. Year 2 and Year 5 had a wonderful lunch and it was so lovely to hear them chatting so enthusiastically together.
Thank you to all of Year 5 for being so welcoming and responsible this week, they all did a fabulous job! We have a lot of excited Year 2 children who are eagerly anticipating their transition afternoon where they will meet their new teachers and have a question and answer session with the current Year 3 pupils.
