Year 2’s Sunshine-Filled Adventure to Warwick Castle

On Thursday, Year 2 enjoyed a wonderful day at Warwick Castle as part of our history studies, and the weather was perfect for exploring! Our adventure began with a careful descent down the spiral staircase into the dungeon. Some of us felt a little nervous at first, but it was fascinating to see where prisoners were once held and to imagine what life must have been like back then.

From there, we moved on to “The King’s Maker,” where we were captivated by the detailed statues of the king and his army preparing for battle. It was amazing to see the weapons and armour up close, giving us a glimpse into medieval warfare.

One of the day’s highlights was the breathtaking birds of prey display. We were treated to the sight of majestic birds like a sea eagle, barn owl, and even a mighty condor soaring through the sky. The children especially loved the thrilling moment when the birds swooped low over our heads—it was an unforgettable experience!

After lunch, we tackled the impressive climb up Guy Tower, the tallest tower at Warwick Castle, with all 530 steps! The views from the top were spectacular, and we felt a real sense of achievement. Next, we explored the Timer Tower, where we delved deeper into the rich history of the castle, learning about its role through the centuries.

Before heading home, we made sure to save time for some fun in Warwick Castle’s very own Zog Playland. The children had an absolute blast, rounding off an incredible day of learning and excitement.

This trip truly brought our studies of castles to life, and we left Warwick Castle with a deeper understanding of its history and plenty of wonderful memories!
