Year 3 and 4 Kick Off the Year with Team-Building and Creativity
Year 3 and 4 have had an exciting and inspiring start to the school year, with a morning full of team-building activities that combined fun, creativity, and problem-solving. The children’s enthusiasm and positive attitudes were evident from the very beginning!
The morning began with the ‘Whisper’ game, a classic challenge in communication and listening skills. Children passed a sentence along a line, trying to maintain the exact wording from start to finish. While some teams managed perfectly, others ended with hilariously transformed sentences, sparking laughter and friendly discussion about how messages can change when we work together. This activity encouraged focus, active listening, and teamwork, all in a light-hearted, enjoyable way.
After break, the children took on the team hoop challenge on the playground. Standing in a large circle and holding hands, they needed to pass a hoop around the circle without letting go. This required cooperation, strategic thinking, and resilience, as the children tried different approaches, reflected on what worked, and encouraged each other every step of the way. The energy and support they showed for one another was wonderful to see, demonstrating how teamwork and perseverance can lead to success.
The morning concluded in Forest School, where the children explored, problem-solved, and played creatively in the outdoors. They collaborated beautifully, showing curiosity, imagination, and independent thinking, while enjoying the freedom to learn in a natural environment.
Throughout the week, Year 3 and 4 have consistently demonstrated kindness, friendliness, and a welcoming attitude towards their peers. They have embraced opportunities to socialise, reconnect and work collaboratively, all while building confidence and resilience in new challenges.
This combination of fun, learning, and teamwork has made for an exceptional start to the year, laying a strong foundation for both social and academic growth. Well done, Year 3 and 4 your enthusiasm, creativity and collaborative spirit have set the tone for a fantastic term ahead!
