Year 3 Explore the Magic of Magnets!
Year 3 were full of curiosity and enthusiasm as they delved into the fascinating world of magnets during their science lesson this week.
Mrs. Atkinson encouraged the children to investigate and explore independently, without any prior scientific explanation, allowing them to observe, question, and discuss their findings. As they experimented with different magnets and objects, they made some exciting discoveries! They quickly noticed that magnets could push and pull, feeling the invisible force as like poles repelled each other. Laughter and amazement filled the classroom when they discovered they could move a magnet on top of the table using another magnet underneath, a fantastic ‘magic trick’ in action!
Through their investigations, they also learned that not all metals are magnetic and were introduced to the scientific terms attraction and repulsion. The lesson ended with a lively discussion about the many ways magnets are used in everyday life.
With so much excitement and curiosity sparked, Year 3 can’t wait for their next science lesson, where their magnetic investigations will continue!
