Year 4 Buzzing with Musical Creativity

Year 4 have been exploring the fascinating world of chromatic scales in their music lessons. As part of their learning, they listened carefully to From a Diary of a Fly by Bartók, discussing how the composer used music to bring the tiny insect’s adventures to life.

Inspired by the piece, the children are now preparing to compose their own musical interpretations of a day in the life of a fly. Using glockenspiels and keyboards, they will experiment with different sounds, rhythms and chromatic patterns to create music that reflects the fly’s movements, experiences and emotions throughout the day.

We are excited to hear their imaginative compositions and see how they use their growing musical knowledge to tell a story through sound!
