Year 5 Dive into their Coasts Project
Year 5 have been immersing themselves in their Geography Coasts project, combining geographical enquiry, research and creativity to explore the fascinating world of our coastlines. The children have produced some fantastic work, showcasing their learning in a variety of imaginative and engaging ways.
Their creative talents have certainly been on display, with 3D beach models, sea life sculptures made from recycled materials and detailed drawings of RNLI lifeboats. Each piece has demonstrated the children’s growing understanding of coastal environments, alongside their ability to think creatively and make thoughtful choices about the materials and techniques they use.
Alongside their artwork, the children have been busy developing their geographical skills. They have researched coastal landmarks and environmental issues, explored mapping, drawn graphs and investigated wave heights, presenting their findings in a range of ways. Through their enquiries, they have been encouraged to ask questions, interpret information and think carefully about the processes that shape our coastlines.
An important part of the project has been considering the challenges facing our coastal environments and why they need protecting. The children have explored these issues with curiosity and enthusiasm, developing a greater appreciation of the natural world and the importance of looking after it.
It has been wonderful to see such a fantastic combination of creativity, curiosity and geographical thinking throughout the project. Well done, Year 5, on producing such thoughtful and imaginative work!
