Year 5 Team Building Fun
Year 5 enjoyed a fantastic Team Building morning, full of creativity, problem-solving, and lots of laughter! The day gave the children a brilliant opportunity to get to know each other better, build friendships, and practise the skills they’ll need to work together successfully throughout the year.
The morning began with the exciting Toppling Task. Working in small groups, the children were given lollipop sticks and pegs with the challenge of creating the longest possible chain. “Longest” could mean the greatest length, the longest time standing, or even the highest number of pegs. The classroom was buzzing with energy as groups experimented, tested, and refined their ideas. Many discovered that even the most carefully constructed designs could suddenly collapse in a domino effect, much to everyone’s delight! This task encouraged creativity, resilience, teamwork and perseverance, as the children learned from trial and error and celebrated their successes together.
After the morning challenge, the children moved outside to enjoy a series of outdoor games designed to build confidence and connection. They played Find Your Partner, where they had to match famous pairs (including some favourites like Bluey & Bingo), followed by the lively game, Getting to Know You Bingo. This activity encouraged the children to talk to as many classmates as possible, discovering shared interests and learning more about one another in a fun, light hearted way.
The whole day was a brilliant success. Not only did the children have a wonderful time, but they also strengthened essential skills such as communication, collaboration, problem-solving and creativity. Just as importantly, they built friendships, boosted their confidence and laid the foundations for a supportive and positive classroom community.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and teamwork shown by Year 5. With such a strong start to the year, we can’t wait to see how these skills continue to grow and shine in the months ahead.
