Y5 Trip to Uni of Worcester Lakeside Campus

Year 5 had a terrific team building day at Lakeside on Friday. The weather was kind to us and there were lots of smiling, happy faces throughout the day.

The children were in groups which rotated around the various pursuits. The water based activities proved particularly popular with the children. Raft building involved the team working together to build a raft from various materials and then testing it out to see if it floated. Once built, the children had great fun racing to the buoy and back whilst trying not to fall off.  From there it was straight over to the paddle boarding area where the children had to perform various commands on their paddle boards without making themselves or their partners fall off. By lunch time all the children were ravenous and everything in their packed lunch was eaten (even the apples!).

The afternoon was spent working in teams on various problem solving activities including an orienteering course. The children learnt a great deal from the day, for example; how to collaborate and communicate effectively, how to work in a team, how to motivate and help each other. Our growth mindset words for this half term, focus and kindness, came up frequently during the day. In particular, it was marvellous to see one child swimming out to help another child who was finding one of the tasks a bit difficult.
