Year 6 Children Unleash Their Creativity at KSW Art Workshop
Year 6 enjoyed a creative and inspiring morning at King’s Worcester (KSW) Art Department, taking part in a hands-on workshop designed to enhance their artistic skills. The session was split into two exciting activities, giving the children a chance to explore different techniques and express their creativity.
The first activity was dry-point etching, where the children used etching tools and black ink to create detailed images of birds and insects. This technique allowed them to experiment with texture and fine lines, developing their understanding of how to represent nature through art. The second session focused on acrylic paint stencil printing, where the children learned to build up layers of colour using stencils to overlay different shapes. They used this technique to create beautiful cards and decorate the front of small notebooks.
Throughout the workshop, Mr. Hayward and Miss Hewitt provided guidance and support, while KSW Sixth Formers assisted the children, offering valuable advice and encouragement. The combination of expert teaching and the enthusiastic help from the older children ensured the day was a success.
The workshop was an engaging and enjoyable experience for all the children, sparking their imagination and allowing them to explore new artistic methods. The morning spent at the KSW Art Department was a fantastic opportunity to develop their skills and deepen their appreciation for the world of art.
