Year 6 Dance Workshop with 2Faced Dance

On Tuesday, our Year 6 pupils had an exciting dance workshop led by Tom Pipes, a talented dancer from 2Faced Dance, a professional dance company based in Hereford. This engaging session was part of this year’s Creative ConneXions theme: Global Rhythms – Dance from Around the World.

Class 6P explored the Caribbean as their chosen region, focusing on the story of the Windrush Generation, the thousands of people who migrated from Caribbean countries to the UK between 1948 and 1973. Through movement and expression, the children worked collaboratively to recreate the journey aboard The Empire Windrush, using their bodies to form the ship itself.

One of the biggest challenges was incorporating suitcases into their routine, symbolising the belongings and hopes carried by those making the journey. At first, dancing with suitcases proved tricky, but with perseverance, teamwork, and determination, the pupils mastered the movements beautifully.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and creativity, and we can’t wait to see their final performance on April 2nd and 3rd at the John Moore Theatre. It promises to be a moving and inspiring showcase of storytelling through dance!
