Y6 experience life at ‘Big King’s’

On Monday, Year 6 pupils from King’s Hawford and King’s St Alban’s visited the Senior School for a Taster Afternoon. These events are a great opportunity for all Year 6 pupils to gain an idea of what they can expect when they join King’s Worcester in Year 7. Run by Head of Lower Years, Miss Arnold, the afternoon is part of a series of events that take place across the year which are designed to ensure a smooth transition from Prep School to Senior School. Monday’s event gave pupils a glimpse into what life at ‘Big King’s’ will look like and helped them to become familiar with the Senior School campus and teachers. It is also an opportunity for Year 6 pupils from each of our Prep Schools to get to know one another a little better.

During their visit pupils were able to choose sessions to attend from Dance, Drama, Geography, Art, DT and Computing. They met with teachers from each department and some Upper Sixth helpers for a range of exciting activities in each of the departments. Pupils were able to experience some of the outstanding facilities on offer at the Senior School. The Dance Studio, John Moore Theatre and the Design Technology department all proved extremely popular with all pupils.

The day finished with cookies and juice in the beautifully autumnal School Gardens, where pupils from each Prep School could get better acquainted and show their friends what they had made during their sessions.
On Monday evening the Senior School held a virtual presentation for all parents and guardians of Year 6 pupils. Miss Arnold, live from the We Will Rock You set, welcomed parents and gave an informative presentation about what they could expect once their children transition into the Senior School next September.
