Year 6 Inspired by Visiting Author Chris Vick
This week, Year 6 had the fantastic opportunity to attend a workshop with visiting author Chris Vick in the John Moore Theatre at KSW. Chris, the talented writer behind Girl, Boy, Sea Shadow Creatures, and The Last Whale, shared how his own experiences, from family life to travel and adventure, have inspired his stories.
He gave the pupils practical tips for writing, encouraging them to explore their own style and voice, and spoke about the importance of resilience, reminding them that great writing takes time, patience, and persistence to master. The session was not only informative but also highly interactive. Pupils had the chance to ask questions, share ideas, and meet Chris personally, finishing off with a signed book to treasure as a memento of a truly inspiring workshop.
It was a wonderful experience that left Year 6 feeling motivated, creative, and excited to continue developing their own writing.
