Year 6 Reading Scavenger Hunt
As part of their English activities for World Book Day, our Year 6 pupils took part in an exciting “I Love Reading” scavenger hunt designed to encourage them to explore books in greater depth.
Armed with their reading lists, the pupils searched through texts to find a range of literary features, including a great sentence, an important moral or lesson, and even a surprising or unexpected event within a story. The activity challenged the children to look more closely at the language, themes and messages within the books they were reading.
Tasks such as these encourage pupils to move beyond simply reading the story and instead think more deeply about how authors craft their writing and the ideas they communicate. Year 6 pupils approached the challenge with enthusiasm and curiosity, discovering some wonderful examples along the way.
A fantastic way to celebrate World Book Day while developing thoughtful and reflective readers.
