Year 4’s Iron Age Trip To Bishops Wood

Year 4 spent a day at Bishops Wood to experience what life would have been like during the Stone Age:

They went back to the Neolithic period where they had the opportunity to go hunting and find out what plants Stone Age man could and could not eat. They also had a go at grinding seeds to make flour, weave willow to make the side of a house and made nets.

After lunch, they made damper dough and cooked it on a fire, learnt how they could create a spark to light a fire and created some cave painting.

To end the day they worked in groups to construct a shelter using Stone Age tools!

All the children enjoyed learning outdoors and didn’t want to go home!
