Young Harpist James Enjoys Orchestral Adventure

Year 2 harpist James F enjoyed an exciting opportunity to make music with other young musicians when he spent two days with the Youth English Symphony Orchestra (ESO) recently.

James threw himself into the experience, joining in with activities and rehearsals before performing in a concert at the end of the two days.

Keen to get every note right, James initially felt a little nervous. Reassurance from the ESO team, who praised his preparation, helped him settle in, and he went on to enjoy making music and spending time with the other children.

The final concert was an incredible experience, bringing together everything the musicians had practised in just two days. After the concert, James said he particularly enjoyed playing Trepak, which reminded him of Christmas and The Nutcracker.

He also came away with an ESO teddy bear, which he brought into school for Friday’s celebration assembly.

James enjoyed the orchestra experience so much that he is already eager to take part in the next course in February. Well done, James, on embracing this musical opportunity!
