Review of the week Spring Term, Week 10
This week’s Celebration Assembly kicked off with Mr Butt presenting our House Bake-Off winners with their trophies. Elise M took the honours at Pre-Prep level whilst Valerie M was the Prep winner. Earlier in the week both girls had impressed the Bake Off judges with their scrumptious cakes. You can read more about this year’s House Bake Off here.
As always Mr Butt was keen to celebrate the successes that pupils have achieved outside school. Joshy R in Year 2 has recently won the Football First Sports Person Award at his local team. This was a particularly impressive feat as it was awarded for the player who demonstrated the most sporting behaviour on the pitch.
Michelle Z continues to impress with her musical talents. Most recently she became the recipient of the Marian Baker Memorial Prize and Cup in Worcester Competitive Arts Festival. Michelle gave a wonderful piano performance from memory to be awarded First Place with Distinction, and she has been invited to perform in the Winners’ Concert on the 27th of March. Her pieces were both from Grade 8 and higher standard repertoire.
Headmaster Awards.
Our budding linguists have impressed over recent weeks in their French and German assessments. Year 5 pupils Evan, Darcy, Jetta, Harriet, Rhys, William and George all gained full marks on their tests whilst Millie (Y4) gained full marks on her French test.
Charlotte F (Y3) was awarded a HMA for an excellent piece of research on diamonds and gemstones. Blythe in Year 6 has produced some brilliant work on the evolution of squirrels. Frank OM (Y1) crafted clear and concise instructions when he created a recipe for a fruit kebab. Bonnie W (Y1) has done some super writing using double adjective phrases.
Ava I and Palmer G received HMAs for their creative writing diary entries. Ava used evocative language and Palmer demonstrated real variation in his sentence structures. Simi (Y2) has embraced her topic learning, recently visiting Mr Butt to show him her model of a castle drawbridge.
Issie F and Isla HM are excelling at maths. Both have recently completed some Senior School level work. In Reception, Mia has blown her teachers away with her efforts in learning about the solar system. Mia has produced a fantastic model of the solar system and when quizzed by Mr Butt was able to name all of the planets and provide interesting facts about each!
British Sign Language Week.
In celebration of British Sign Language Week, Miss Collins and Mrs Rand helped the whole school to sign along to this morning’s hymns by teaching them the signs. It was remarkable to watch the entire school signing along. The focus of this year’s British Sign Language Week has been on preserving the language. In an effort to help our pupils to preserve British Sign Language, Miss Collins and Mrs Rand spent time after the hymn teaching pupils several greeting signs such as “Good morning”, “Good afternoon”, “How are you?” and “My name is…”. Pupils were then taught how to sign the alphabet in order to spell out their names.
