King's St Alban's

22 March

Final Informal Concert has Chapel buzzing.

The King’s St Alban’s Chapel was buzzing with excited parents and children on Tuesday for our final Informal Concert of the term.

The concert got underway in style with a performance by Emily (Y6: voice), who sang Adele’s beautiful Love You in the Dark. Throughout the concert the audience were treated to an incredibly wide variety of music, showing just how versatile our KSA musicians are. Despactio, played by Ché-David (Y4: drums) contrasted beautifully with Castle on a Cloud (Laura Y5: voice). Traditional favourites such as Clair de la Lune (Sofia Y2: piano) sat alongside classical pieces such as Prelude in Db Major (Rory Y6: piano) and Presto (George Y5: piano). Many of us were transported back to the 1970s with The Flintstones Theme (Charlotte Y5: ‘cello) and jazzy pieces such as City Lights (Emma Y4: viola) and Ragtime (Charlie Y6: trumpet) set our toes tapping. This was truly a musical feast!

Congratulations must go to the children who were performing for the first time in this concert: Poppy (Y2) and Laura (Y5) are both experienced Informal Concert soloists on the piano, but bravely gave their first vocal performances; Suzie (Y5) gave a super first performance on the bassoon, and Ivy (Y4) made a double first appearance, both playing the piano and singing.

This was a super final informal concert and a lovely way to end the day. Well done everyone! Previous Informal Concert reviews can be found here.
