Equestrian Team canter to new heights

The newly formed King’s Hawford Equestrian Team have continued their winning streak with a very successful weekend. On Saturday Adelyn K and her pony Tank enjoyed a thrilling One Day Event at the Elms School; on Sunday the team of Adelyn, Annie and Rosie took part in the NSEA Show Jumping Qualifier.

Adelyn and her new pony Tank competed in their very first ODE together. They came second in the dressage, with a cracking  score of 27.75, followed by a Clear in the show jumping and just 20 faults on the cross-country, resulting in an overall sixth place. This is a fabulous achievement from Adelyn and Tank, who were flying the colours for Team Hawford at the event.

On Sunday Adelyn joined up with her school team-mates Annie and Rosie to compete in the NSEA Show Jumping Qualifier at Rectory Farm. The King’s Hawford team rode their socks off to win the 40cm class and come second in the 50cm Optimum Time class!

Addy, Annie and Rosie were individually placed third, fourth and seventh respectively out of 30 in the 40cm class, and Rosie was individually placed third out of 46 in the 50cm Optimum Time class.

As first and second placed team and first to fourth placed individuals, they qualified for the 25th annual NSEA National Schools Championships 2023 in October. The girls went home with an impressive haul of rosettes, medals, sashes, sweets and Monopoly games, kindly provided by hosts, Dean Close.

Their team spirit was fantastic and it was wonderful to see them encouraging each other throughout the day. The whole School is extremely proud of the whole Equestrian Team. Well done girls!
