Year 3 Sink Their Teeth into Science
There was plenty of curiosity — and a few giggles — in the Year 3 classroom this week as pupils launched into their brand-new Science topic: teeth! Armed with mini mirrors and lots of enthusiasm, they became scientists for the afternoon, peering inside their own mouths to count, name and study their teeth in detail.
The lesson was the perfect way to kick off what promises to be a fascinating topic. Pupils discovered that not all teeth are the same, incisors, canines and molars all have different shapes and jobs to do. Comparing their own findings with their classmates sparked lively discussion, as pupils began to understand how our teeth work together to help us bite, tear and chew our food.
This is just the beginning of a wonderful scientific journey. Over the coming weeks, Year 3 will continue to investigate teeth, asking big questions and carrying out practical experiments to help them find the answers.
With their curiosity already shining through, it’s clear that Year 3 are ready to really sink their teeth into this exciting topic!
