European Day of Languages Celebrated with Bake Off and Language Learning
On Monday, King’s Hawford marked the European Day of Languages with a vibrant mix of culinary creativity and language-learning activities, in a day of fun, culture, and celebration.
The day began with the much-anticipated European Bake Off, where pupils proudly presented their homemade treats. Staff had the difficult task of judging the entries, selecting one finalist from each house. The competition reached its climax with the final round judged by Mr. Butt, who crowned Billy K as the overall Bake Off Champion. After the contest, the cakes were sold during break time in a charity bake sale.
Many children and staff dressed up in a range of wonderful, creative costumes, representing different European countries.
Pupils from Year 6 visited Kindergarten, where they introduced younger children to German through some fun activities. The younger pupils were very enthusiastic participants, enjoying the chance to explore a new language with the guidance of the older Hawford children.
European Day of Languages was a fantastic day full of fun, learning, and celebration that brought the whole school together to celebrate cultural diversity.
