A Wonderful Residential Adventure for Year 2

Year 2 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable two-day residential trip to Boundless Outdoors, filled with adventure, teamwork, laughter, and plenty of muddy fun! From the moment they arrived, pupils embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and positivity, creating memories that will stay with them for a long time.

On day one, pupils arrived in high spirits and quickly settled into their dormitories, helping one another make beds and unpack belongings. After lunch, the children split into groups to begin a series of exciting outdoor activities designed to encourage teamwork, independence, and problem-solving.

One of the highlights of the day was the ‘Punch Trail’, where pupils used their map-reading and orienteering skills to locate hidden numbers around the site. Working collaboratively and encouraging one another throughout, pupils showed fantastic teamwork and determination.

The Wild Wood Walk was another firm favourite, taking pupils across the troll bridge, up slippery hills, through wild garlic trails, and into the wonderfully muddy swamp! Pupils loved climbing inside the unusual trees, exploring the dragon’s den, relaxing in the hammock, and, of course, covering themselves in muddy face paint before running through the sticky swamp together.

After a busy afternoon outdoors, everyone enjoyed a delicious supper with a choice of chicken curry or jacket potatoes followed by ice cream. The evening ended with time to play games on the grass, chat together in dorms, and finally relax with hot chocolate, cookies, and a bedtime story before settling down after a fun-filled first day.

Following a good night’s sleep, Year 2 woke up full of excitement for day two. Pupils took responsibility for packing their belongings, tidying their dormitories, and preparing for room inspections, where points were awarded for the most organised rooms. They also worked together to prepare a small performance for Emma, the course director, who had the difficult task of choosing between many creative and entertaining acts!

After breakfast, pupils tackled more exciting challenges including orienteering, high bridges, and low ropes activities. It was wonderful to see pupils stepping outside of their comfort zones, supporting one another, and showing such resilience and confidence throughout the morning.

By the time they returned to school, pupils were certainly tired but incredibly proud of all they had achieved. The residential was a fantastic opportunity for Year 2 to build confidence, friendships, and independence, and we are so proud of the enthusiasm and courage they showed throughout the trip.
