Year 6 Become Digital Detectives
Year 6 have been putting their detective skills to the test through Digital Spy Academy, exploring an increasingly important question: Can we trust everything we read online?
As confident users of digital technology, it is essential that children learn to navigate the online world thoughtfully and safely. Through the Digital Spy Academy activities, Year 6 investigated how information is presented online, considering how easily misleading information can be shared and why it is important to look beyond the headlines.
The children were encouraged to question what they see, think critically about the information they encounter and consider whether a source is reliable. They explored the importance of checking facts, looking for evidence and recognising that not everything online is accurate or trustworthy. Rather than simply accepting information at face value, they learnt to pause, ask questions and investigate further.
The sessions sparked thoughtful discussions as pupils shared their ideas, considered different perspectives and developed strategies for making informed decisions online. These skills are increasingly important in a digital world where information is constantly at our fingertips.
Year 6 have taken some valuable steps towards becoming responsible and digitally savvy learners, understanding that being online is not just about finding information, but knowing how to evaluate it. Well done Year 6 for your curiosity, critical thinking and excellent contributions!
