King's Hawford
28 June
A Spectacular Showcase of Talent and Achievement!
The final celebration assembly of the year at King’s Hawford was a truly special event, held in a beautifully decorated marquee in preparation for Speech Day. With the ongoing art exhibition in The Barn, an achievement in itself, the marquee served as the perfect alternative venue.
The assembly featured a slightly different format due to the change in location, but that didn’t dampen the excitement. Mr Butt kicked things off by celebrating the School’s external achievements.
Equestrian Excellence
A huge round of applause went to our equestrian team, who recently secured third place in a Gloucestershire competition. Special congratulations on this wonderful achievement to Adelyn, who was awarded the Best Horsemanship award! The talented team includes Rosie, Adelyn, Annie, Chloe, and Maisie.
Martial Arts and Ballet Brilliance
Congratulations to Alex for achieving his blue belt in Taekwondo, and to Jasper for earning a Merit in his classical ballet exam. These are outstanding accomplishments!
Swimming Stars
Thea and Pippa showcased their swimming prowess in a relay, with Thea completing the breaststroke leg and Pippa the freestyle, earning a county bronze medal. Well done, girls!
Chess and Gymnastics Champions
Isaac returned victorious from a mega chess competition with a medal, and Ffion shone brightly by achieving her Grade 4 Gymnastics Award for work on the beam and securing first place in a recent competition.
Cricket Conquerors
Our cricket girls, fresh from their IAPS Championships win, faced Worcestershire’s best at RGS The Grange. Highlights included:
- vs RGS The Grange: Stellar bowling and powerful batting, led by Marnie P and Pippa P, meant our score was twice the opponents’ total.
- vs King’s St Alban’s: An incredible display, with five run-outs and a maiden over by Darcy B. The girls’ batting was consistently strong.
Finals: Against last year’s champions, Bromsgrove, our girls showed their strength, with regular wickets and robust fielding. Their smart batting sealed a well-deserved victory.
Academic Achievers
Congratulations to Chester, Ellis, and Emily (Year 2), Joshua (Year 1), Palmer, Oliver, and Sam M (Year 6) for achieving five subject merits. They later enjoyed a tasty treat in Mr Butt’s office.
Mercia Regional Athletics Triumph
The Mercia Regional Athletics Competition at Stourport Athletics Club was a day of spirited competition. Harriet, a Year Six pupil, excelled in the U12 Girls’ Shot Put with an outstanding throw of 6.63 meters, securing her qualification for the National Finals. This marks the seventh consecutive year that a King’s Hawford pupil has reached the finals.
