From Mrs Phillips
It has been one of those perfect weeks at Hawford from which many wonderful memories have been created.
The week began with an assembly in the Barn from artist and craftsman, Matthew Lloyd, which featured a big reveal about the surprise pizza oven project. The announcement was met with huge excitement and delight from the young audience which was echoed in the staff room.
The children and staff have had a fantastic time in the sunshine, mixing the cob with their feet, and then working collaboratively to create something quite beautiful, that the children and families at Hawford will benefit from for many years to come. We cannot thank the PA and wider parent body enough for funding this unique opportunity.
In other news, children around the school have been demonstrating their skills in maths assessments, rehearsing for the school production, representing their school in cricket fixtures and finessing sports day skills.
Years 1 & 2 enjoyed fun filled and activity packed trips to Bishop’s Wood; how lucky we are to have this wonderful resource on our doorstep. Our pint-sized intrepid explorers from KG1 have enjoyed a special day of Forest School fun too.
Reception and KG2 were captivated by a visit from some majestic feathered visitors from the Birds of Prey centre, and the Reception children took gleeful delight in dissecting and identifying the gory contents of some owl pellets.
With the Big Bake Off, Year 4 Reading competition and a whole school pizza party all to come next week, the fun certainly doesn’t stop here.
I wish all of our bakers the best of luck with their show-stopping tart and traybake creations this weekend. I am very much looking forward to the judging on Monday.
On your marks, get set, bake!
