Adventure Abounds at Year 5 Camp Out

Year 5 pupils enjoyed memorable camp out experiences recently, combining outdoor adventure, practical learning and plenty of resilience.

The first group, 5SH, travelled to the Malvern Hills where they put their geography skills into action by using OS maps, compasses, and both four- and six-figure grid references to navigate their route. Despite the threat of rain, the class completed the challenge successfully and returned to school full of enthusiasm.

Back at school, 5SH took on the added challenge of cooking Super Noodles on Trangia stoves, before ending the evening by toasting marshmallows over the fire and camping overnight in tents.

The following week, 5CK rose to the occasion on their own Malvern Hills field trip, showing excellent navigational skills and determination in wet weather. Their storm shelters were tested in real conditions and proved very useful at lunchtime.

After returning to school, they also cooked outdoors, toasted marshmallows, and successfully spent the night under canvas.

Both classes should be proud of the teamwork, independence and resilience they showed throughout their camp out adventures.
