Aspirational Musicians Impress at Informal Concert
This week’s Informal Concert was a real celebration of all things musical at King’s Hawford, and showcased plenty of talent. Pupils from Year Two to Year Six took it in turns to perform on a wide range of musical instruments; in fact, almost all of the instrument families were represented during the concert.
It was wonderful to have two pupils representing Pre-Prep, both of whom gave wonderful performances on the drums. Alex V played Straight Eight Groove, showing off his sight-reading skills, while Rupert C played a set of drum exercises and very much looked the part.
Ruby K and Olivia W gave the first performance of the concert. The girls duetted on Favourite Things from The Sound of Music by Rodgers and Hammerstein . The girls gave a confident performance and their voices blended very well.
Throughout the concert, we were reminded of the strength of our string players within the School, with a total of nine performers on the violin and one on the ukulele. Alice H, Ellie M, Simi H, Ellie H, Sam M, Olivia G, Oliver HS, Daisy E and Charlotte F all gave superb performances on their violins. Cameron HT continues his development on the ukulele and treated the audience to an acoustic performance of I’m a Believer by The Monkees.
Darcy B represented the woodwind family of instruments, giving a polished performance on her clarinet, and Thea, representing the brass instruments, performed Strollin’ on her trombone.
An Informal Concert would not be complete without performances on the piano: Maddie P, Harry J and Georgia P all delivered note-perfect recitals.
It was brilliant to welcome Nicolas HT to the concert on his recorder. This is not an instrument we have often had the pleasure of hearing in our concerts, but it is a welcome addition nonetheless.
Well done to all of our performers, who were incredibly brave to perform in front of an audience of their peers, families and friends. These events are an important part of their musical journey and we are most grateful for the support shown by the audience.
