Today’s Celebration Assembly was lead by Mrs Knight, who kicked off proceedings by introducing Year 4 pupil Teddy. Teddy took to the piano where he mesmerised the audience with a perfect performance of Do You Feel The Love Tonight by Elton John. Teddy has recently achieved a distinction in his ABRSM Grade 3 Piano Performance Exam. Well done Teddy!
Mrs Knight congratulated all of this week’s Head Teacher Award winners. Well done to George C, Olivia G in Year 3, James B in Year 4 and Barnaby B in Year 5. Year 6 have had a very busy week with nine pupils making the trip to Mrs Phillips’ office for a treat from the Basket of Brilliance. Well done to Amelia M, Bella M, Ben E, Charlotte B, Daniel L, Florence B, Harry B, Henry L-A and Zofia W.
This week’s Top House point scorers were: Noah P (Rec), Sophia R (Y1), George A (Y2), Olivia G (Y3), Grace D (Y4), Barnaby B (Y5) and Florence B (Y6). Well done to all of you for the superb effort you have put in this week.
Miss White took over piano accompaniment this week, leading the school in their hymn – Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer. The assembled pupils gave a rousing performance and it was excellent to hear them singing together in fine voice.
Teachers at King’s Hawford have recently been undertaking a Mindfulness course. Mrs Knight shared her experience with Mindfulness and how it is helping her. She spoke to the pupils about the Calm app and shared a children’s meditation story off the app that encouraged pupils to think about all the things that they are grateful for. In the story the troll compiles a Gratitude Scrapbook that they look at when they are feeling down. Pupils were then invited to share the things that they were grateful for! These ranged from friends and family, to pets and sports.
The assembly finished with a prayer in which Mrs Knight gave thanks for the things that make us happy and asked for help in seeing those things when we are feeling sad.
