Christmas Fayre adds extra cheer to final week of term.

On the penultimate day of the Autumn Term, we held our Christmas Fayre, a popular event in our school calendar and, for many of our staff and pupils, one that marks the end of the term. This year was no different. The event was perfectly timed, with our Christmas Jumper Day meaning that our pupils were resplendent in festive attire as they descended on the Fayre.

Each year group ran a stall, enabling pupils to have a go at a variety of different activities including an Antler Ring Toss, Pin the Red Nose on the Reindeer and a festive treasure trail, and all of the children were in high spirits as they worked their way around the challenges. As is traditional at the King’s Hawford Christmas Fayre, all Kindergarten and Pre-Prep pupils visited Santa’s Inflatable Grotto. There was plenty of excitement as the children began to queue up. Santa’s two naughty elves were on hand to assist him, and the children were eager to share their Christmas wish lists with Santa; presents ranged from rainbow hairbands to drones and from squishy teddies to mobile phones. Each child left the grotto with a sweet treat from Father Christmas.

Performances from Brass Group and Woodwind Group really added to the festive atmosphere of the Fayre. Brass Group played Jingle Bells, Christmas Time, Good King Wenceslas and We Wish You A Merry Christmas. Oscar played We Three Kings on this trumpet as well as Somewhere in My Memory. Robyn C and Tilly C performed Jingle Bells, Christmas Buns and Christmas Time on their cornets. Woodwind Group then played Jingle Bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Jingle Bell Rock as an ensembleA clarinet trio treated us to performances of Silent Night and We Three Kings, whilst a trio of flutists played Hark the Herald, O Come All Ye Faithful and Frosty the Snowman. Jess K gave a solo performance of Do You Wanna before an ensemble of Year Five pupils played We Wish You A Merry Christmas.

Celebrations finished with a whole school karaoke session in The Barn, where pupils and staff sang along to pop hits and classic festive tunes.
