Ending half term on a high.
The first half of term has flown by and there has been plenty to celebrate.
We started this week’s bumper Celebration Assembly with not one but two musical performances. First up we had Oscar on the trumpet. Oscar treated us to a rousing performance – helping our Year 2 teachers to stay awake. Next up was Charlotte F on the violin. Charlotte enchanted the audience with her confident performance.
Achievements outside of school:
Well done to Emily G who has been awarded her Swim England Level 5 Learn to Swim certificate. A brilliant achievement Emily! A number of our younger musicians have started their music exam journey. The following pupils are now well on their way to achieving Grade 1 after passing their prep test: Sophia R, William C, Eleanor N and Harry J.
Year 4 Reading Competition:
Over the past few weeks Year 4 have been taking part in a Reading Competition. On Tuesday Mr Low, Head of English at King’s Worcester visited King’s Hawford to judge the final of the competition. It was a hotly contested competition with lots of brilliant entries. The following pupils were highly commended: Arthur A, Olivia G, Charles N, Mary W and Sophie W. It was Pip K who was the eventual winner with Jess K and Chloe T in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Well done to all of the Year 4 entrants.

Headmaster Awards (HMAs)
This week Mr Butt has been visited by a hoard of children all eager to show off their work and claim a reward from the Basket of Brilliance. Mr Butt noted that there was a writing theme to the work he has seen this week.
Year 5 have been writing stories about storms and have used some excellent descriptive and evocative language – well done to Sam B, Ollie H-S, Oscar H, Leighton S, George and Cameron H-T.
Over in Year 3 Ariana, Indie and Florrie have all impressed with their writing about adventures. In MFL Year 5 have been tasked with producing some written work in French and German. Pupils have independently produced written pieces on family and houses. Darcy B and George O’s work stood out to Mrs Hyde.
Year 1 have been working hard on their topic of the Great Fire of London. Last week they produced newspaper reports on the Fire. Alex V, Alice H, Tanith H, William C, Syrenna B, Aoife W and Frank O all created excellent articles.
