On the morning of Wednesday 21st November an excited U11 team were all set with new hockey finalist hoodies to head to Rugby school sports centre to compete in the IAPS Hockey national finals. The team left school at 7.30am and after hitting a lot of unexpected traffic and one team member being a little travel sick due to country roads they arrived safely at Rugby ready to register at 9.30am.
Our first match was against Edgeborough at 10.15am, although the girls were incredibly nervous they tried hard to play their best and dominated the game. They were unfortunate not to get a goal in finishing 0-0. The girls then faced Ratcliffe College who were a tough opposition but the girls gave them a good match, unfortunately Ratcliffe managed to get a goal in with the last few minutes meaning the game finished 0-1. The girls then managed to bag themselves a win against West Hill Park 2-1, giving them a bit of confidence and boosting them to push even harder for the remaining matches. They were unlucky in their final two matches losing out to Kingsshott 2-0 and Langley Prep 2-1.
Miss Holtham and Mrs Marshall-Walker are incredibly proud of the effort, determination and resilience that the girls showed at all times. After playing 60 minutes of tournament Hockey, the girls were exhausted but very happy to be a part of such an important event. An amazing achievement well done 2018 Kings Hawford U11 IAPS Hockey finalists.
