Kinver crowned House Tug-of-War Champs
What better way to kick start the new term than House Tug-of-War? The competition has been absent from school for the past few years, so it was wonderful to see its return. On Friday, every pupil from Reception to Year Six represented their House. The competition provided pupils with an excellent opportunity to get to know new starters in their House. Our House system is an important part of school life at King’s Hawford, promoting a sense of community, belonging, and pride.
Throughout Friday afternoon, pupils gathered in their Houses under the shade of the trees on the top field. They were joined by staff members from their Houses who helped advise pupils on techniques and tactics.
Reception pupils were the first to go head to head, as Team Leatherdale took on Team Lane. It was a close competition, and it was an accomplished bunch of children who retired back to the classroom. Over the course of the afternoon, every pupil from Reception to Year Six had the chance to compete in their House teams. Spirits were incredibly high and staff were impressed with the excellent way the children supported one another.
Mr Hodgkins put in a solid shift in the blazing sun, overseeing every contest and keeping track of the scores. During Friday’s assembly, he had the honour of crowning Kinver House the overall winners of the House Tug-of-War!
House spirit will remain strong throughout the year, as our four House groups will compete in different contests, culminating in the Apache Relay and Sports Day during the Summer Term.
