King's Hawford

15 September

PA at Heart of Hawford Community

Thanks to our wonderful PA, last weekend, the King’s Hawford community gathered together to celebrate the start of a new academic year at the annual Welcome Home Hawford Festival.  This year we were blessed with unseasonably warm weather for this popular event, which added to the festival feel of the day.

The King’s Hawford Parents’ Association had once again gone above and beyond, and feedback from those attending suggests it was one of the best yet! Under the scorching sun, parents, teachers, and pupils alike took part in myriad fun-filled activities. Activities on offer included bouncy castles, Bumper Carz from BBC Inflatables, face-painting, circus-skill workshops and, of course, trips out on the canal in the school katacanoes! Pupils relished the chance to show off their paddling skills to their parents and many of the parents who braved trips out on the katacanoes with the children soon realised that it was in fact a great way to cool down!

The ice-cream van proved very popular as attendees to the event attempted to stay cool; they also enjoyed tucking into a scrumptious BBQ, which was manned by members of the PA. We were delighted to welcome back some Old Hawfordians to the event and Louis and Loren did a sterling job in the heat belting out a range of popular tunes.

Chair of the King’s Hawford Parents’ Association, Mrs Gemma Carlisle added, “It was wonderful welcoming back the whole school community last weekend. The was certainly shining for us and everyone thoroughly enjoyed all that was on offer, from the katacanoes to the bumpercarz and face painting so much fun was had. One of the highlights was welcoming ex-Hawford pupils Louis and Loren back to perform live music for us. They really helped set the perfect festival scene. Thank you to all those who came along and those who volunteered. We couldn’t do it without you.”

Thank you to all those King’s Hawford families who joined in the fun; all in all, it was a great way to get the school year underway.
