PA Firework Spectacular
The PA Bonfire is a highlight of the school year for many pupils and their parents. It is a brilliant example of the outstanding community spirit that exists at the School. This year’s Firework Spectacular run by the King’s Hawford Parents’ Association did not disappoint! Members of the wonderful Parents’ Association had worked incredibly hard to ensure an excellent event. Gates opened at 5.30pm and guests started to arrive, wrapped up warmly against the blustery conditions.
Mr Callow had carefully built a terrific bonfire on the bottom field and Mr Butt had the honour of lighting it, under the watchful eye of Mr Vaughan. The bonfire was soon ablaze, lighting up the bottom field and generating a great deal of warmth. Pupils and their families and friends made the most of the refreshments, enjoying hot dogs, burgers and sweet treats alongside warming soup and hot chocolate.
At 7pm an expectant hush fell over the field as anticipation mounted. As the first fireworks lit up the sky, audible “oohs” and “aahs” rippled through the crowd. This year’s display was magnificent, with many left awestruck! We are forever grateful to our Parents’ Association, who always go above and beyond for King’s Hawford. Many of the PA were onsite from 3pm, setting up the refreshment stalls and ensuring everything was perfect ahead of the gates opening. Our dedicated school staff are also to be commended for the roles they played in ensuring that the evening ran smoothly. Without our high-vis heroes, events such as these would simply not be possible. Mr Callow and Mr Vaughan work tirelessly behind the scenes on events like these ensuring that the school site is accessible and safe for all guests. We owe them a debt of gratitude for all they do.
