Senior Choir shine brightly for St Richard’s Hospice.
We are extremely proud our Senior Choir who have once again performed in the St Richard’s Hospice’s Lights of Love Service at Worcester Cathedral. It is a tremendous honour for us to be invited back to perform each year. During the service thousands of lights were lit in memory and celebration of loved ones as part of the annual campaign by St Richard’s Hospice.
Having performed two of their songs in Celebration Assembly earlier in the day to rapturous applause, Senior Choir were in confident spirits as they made their way across town to the Cathedral. After warming up their vocal cords, the choir took their place in the Cathedral
They gave an absolutely magical performance and all of the staff present were extremely proud of every member of the choir. There is no better acoustic for a choir, and it was evident in the pupils faces as soon as they started singing that they realised the venue had elevated their performance.
The choir sang three pieces with beautiful balanced harmonies: The Skye Boat Song (trad. Scottish), Hushabye Mountain from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Sherman and Sherman and Easy On Me by Adele.
All three pieces captured the poignant mood of the service, and staff were extremely impressed with the maturity of our pupils. They were fully aware of the nature of the service and acted with respect and poise, showing great decorum.
The children were of course delighted to receive the wonderful praise from members of the congregation after the service. We feel privileged to be invited each year by St Richard’s Hospice for their special ‘Lights of Love’ service, and we always look forward to performing in the splendour of the cathedral.
