We were delighted to welcome parents back into school last week for our annual Sports Day events. It was fantastic to see the sports field buzzing once again with fun and laughter, and by some stroke of luck we managed to enjoy all three events without a drop of rain.
Sports Day is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Summer Term for both children and parents alike, with pupils from Kindergarten to Year 6 participating and competing.
The first event was our Early Years Sports Day for our Kindergarten and Reception pupils. Cheered on by their parents and team mates, the children showed true grit and determination as they enjoyed running races, relay races, and a teddy bear race. The highlight was the novelty race, which saw the children racing across the track to put on sunglasses and a hat, before doing the monkey walk to cross the finish line.
Well done to Green Group who won the Kindergarten relay, and RAL who won the Reception relay.
Pre-Prep Sports Day
The Pre-Prep Sports Day followed that afternoon and our spectators were treated to more running races and relays. There was definitely a hint of friendly competition in the air, but we must congratulate all of our pre-prep children for their perseverance, concentration, and team work.
Well done to 1JR for winning the Year 1 relay and 2OR for winning the Year 2 relay.
Prep Sports Day
The final event of the week was the Prep Sports Day, and it’s fair to say that our Year 6 children were determined to make it one to remember. With an action-packed itinerary of field and track events, we were delighted to see how much the children have come on in terms of athletics this term, with some outstanding speed and technique on show.

We also awarded a special Kevin Bethel shot put award to the child who threw the shot put the furthest. This was in memory of our friend and colleague Kevin who took great pride in running the shot-put event each year. Well done to Biff H for taking the award this year.
A huge thank you to the King’s Hawford team for working so hard to put on these events in a way that ensured the fun and safety of all involved. Thank you also to our wonderful parents for the ongoing support.
