On Tuesday afternoon the U9 boys football team matched up against a side from Winterfold School. The boys from both schools demonstrated impressive resilience despite the rainy conditions. The Hawford boys dominated much of the early exchanges and managed to score three quick-fire goals It was brilliant to see the boys using great footwork to skilfully manoeuvre past opposing defenders, making them a constant goal threat throughout the match. Mr Hodgkins was especially impressed with Cassian W and Rupert T for effectively applying the team’s target of passing the ball to teammates in space. A special mention should also go to William K and Casper H for stepping up from year 3 and performing well for the year 4 team during the second half.
U8 Football vs Winterfold
Our Under 8 footballers hosted a Winterfold side on a slightly blowy and drizzly afternoon on Tuesday this week. This was the outstanding performance of the season so far with the boys mounting wave upon wave of attack and scoring a number of well worked goals. The team was also defensively astute denying the opposition many genuine opportunities to score. Our very own David Ginola, Rupert C, scored a well taken brace of goals, Billy K scored a hatrick and a number of other players hit the back of the net. The midfield was bossed by Noah P, Alex S-C and William C. All in all, this was a fine performance that showed exactly how far the boys have come in a relatively short period of time.
