Summer Term Prefects ready to lead the way

During Monday morning’s assembly, Mr Butt appointed a new Pupil Leadership Team. This final group of Prefects and Heads of School will have the privilege and responsibility of leading the School through the final term of this academic year.

Our pupil leadership team is a fairly new concept but one which our Year 6 pupils have fully embraced over the last couple of years. It has been testament to the character and aptitude of our older pupils that the majority of our Year 6 pupils have taken on a role within the Pupil Leadership Team. Each term Mr Butt and other members of staff carefully review all of the written applications that they receive.

This term has been no different. Our Heads of School for the Summer Term are Barnaby B and Erin L. Both of these pupils truly embody what it is to be a Hawfordian. They have both fully embraced every opportunity during their time at King’s Hawford. They are natural leaders and are excellent role models for our younger pupils. We know for certain that they will undertake their roles with pride and dedication to the School and its ethos.

Our Academic Prefects for this final term are Max D, Jack M and Issie F. All three are very passionate about King’s Hawford; Jack and Issie bring a wealth of experience to the team, having already acted as Prefects earlier in the year. As Academic Prefects they will be expected to assist in keeping the Library Bus and book area in The Cobb clean and tidy, help listen to younger readers on a regular basis, assist with some lunchtimes in the dining room and raise the school flag each day.

Oliver B and Arya P are this term’s Citizenship Prefects. This is Arya’s second term as a Prefect; no doubt she will use her past experience to help to lead the School over the course of this final term. Since joining the School in the Autumn Term, Oliver has immersed himself in life at King’s Hawford. An able sportsman and passionate member of the Eco-Council, Oliver is a brilliant role model for our younger pupils. Our Citizenship Prefects are required to check the office daily for jobs, volunteer to assist any members of staff in carrying and fetching, support a peer in doing the right thing and assist with Reception during break duties.

This term we have three Sports Prefects, Hudson M, Freddie P and Poppy C. All three are regular members of the School’s sports teams. They are brilliant ambassadors for the School at sports fixtures and we are sure that this will continue with their new roles. Sports Prefects are asked actively to seek to assist in keeping Games, PE and Outdoor Ed storage areas tidy and organised, play a role in the collection of equipment at the end of a session, attend and assist with clubs and be a positive role model in attitude, appearance and commitment.

Max M is this term’s Performing Arts Prefect. During his time at King’s Hawford Max has thrown himself into every performance in which he has taken part. A talented musician, Max gives younger pupils something to which to aspire. As a Performing Arts Prefect, Max will attend informal concerts, assist with displays and exhibitions, including keeping key areas tidy, be a positive role model in all the performing arts, including LAMDA and music, and play a key role in assisting with all school performances.

We wish the team the best of luck for the term and look forward to watching them lead the School from the front!
