Taking on sporting challenge for charity.

Taking on the biggest sporting challenge of his life this Saturday, 2nd April, Eddie (Year 6) will be racing from Upton Upon Severn Rugby Club to the Worcester Warriors Sixways Stadium on the outskirts of Worcester city.

Roping in our Headmaster, Mr Chapman, Eddie will complete the first two miles, before being joined by Mr Chapman to cycle ten miles to Worcester and then finish the race with a final two mile run. Eddie hopes to arrive at the Sixways Stadium in time to take on the role of match mascot as the Warriors play Newcastle at 3pm.

Raising money for St Richard’s Hospice, Eddie has already raised over £1,400, smashing his target of £500 in memory of his Uncle, David Underwood. A former player for Upton upon Severn Rugby Club and life-long supporter of the Worcester Warriors, David sadly passed away last year. Eddie explained, “I’m planning to raise heaps of money for St Richard’s Hospice, as they cared for him (his uncle) so well when he needed help.”

Earlier this week, BBC Hereford and Worcester popped into school to interview Eddie and Mr Chapman ahead of the challenge. We hope that he enjoys his reward dinner at Hickory’s on Saturday evening!

A sport loving eleven-year-old, Eddie has been supported by his family and friends as well as the Worcester Warriors in achieving his challenge. The King’s St Alban’s community send him (and Mr Chapman) the very best of luck and look forward to hearing the final result!
