Year 2 Sparks Curiosity in Science: Exploring Electricity
There has been a real buzz in Year 2 this week as the children dived into their science topic on electricity! The classroom was full of excitement and curiosity as the children explored how to create simple circuits.
Working in pairs, the children experimented with connecting wires, batteries, and bulbs, discovering what was needed to make their bulbs light up. Some circuits worked immediately, while others didn’t quite succeed the first time. Rather than being discouraged, the children used this as a learning opportunity. Together, we investigated why some circuits worked and others didn’t, and then everyone had another go, celebrating each success with great enthusiasm!
After successfully lighting their bulbs, the children moved on to the next stage of learning: drawing their circuits using the correct scientific symbols. They practised representing batteries, bulbs, and wires in a simple diagram, combining their practical understanding with visual communication skills. It was wonderful to see how quickly they grasped the concepts and applied them independently.
We are incredibly proud of Year 2’s curiosity, teamwork, and resilience in tackling new challenges. Their excitement for learning and hands-on approach to science makes these lessons both fun and memorable.
