Year 2’s Exciting Adventure at Malvern Boundless Outdoor Centre

This week, Year 2 embarked on a fantastic residential adventure to the Boundless Outdoor Centre in Malvern, an experience full of fun, friendship, and fresh air!

The excitement was palpable as we left school early on Tuesday morning, eager to begin our journey. Upon arrival, the children were shown to their chalet accommodation, where they settled into their rooms and even had a go at making their own beds, supported, of course, by a few helpful friends!

After enjoying a tasty, packed lunch, the first activity of the day began: the low ropes course. Working in pairs, the children tackled a series of balancing and climbing challenges, showing great determination and resilience. It was wonderful to see so many pupils encouraging each other and pushing themselves to try something new.

Next came the wild wood walk, a fun-filled forest adventure where the children hunted for woodland trolls and kept a watchful eye out for the mysterious “drop bears!” The day ended with a hearty dinner followed by some relaxing games and colouring, giving everyone a chance to wind down before bed. After a good night’s sleep and a delicious, cooked breakfast, we kicked off Wednesday with an exciting Bird Orienteering challenge. In small teams, the children used maps to navigate the wooded area, searching for hidden wooden birds, each marked with a letter. Once they’d found them all, they worked together to unscramble the letters and discover the name of a mystery bird. This activity brilliantly combined navigation skills, problem-solving, and teamwork.

The final adventure was perhaps the most thrilling: the high bridges. Safely harnessed, the children navigated rope bridges high up in the trees. For those feeling extra brave, there was a second bridge featuring wider gaps between planks, a real test of courage! Every child showed impressive bravery and risk-taking, and they were all safely lowered back to the ground by the end of the challenge.

Before heading home, the children made their own packed lunches and boarded the minibus, returning to school tired but full of smiles. It was a wonderful experience that gave everyone the opportunity to grow in independence, confidence, and friendship.

A huge thank you to the staff at Boundless Outdoor Centre for making this such a memorable and enjoyable trip!
