Year 3 Forecasts a Fantastic Week of Learning!
This week, Year 3 have been diving into their geography topic on weather and what better way to bring their learning to life than by becoming weather presenters themselves!
Working in pairs, the children collaborated to write and perform their very own weather forecasts for the United Kingdom. They began by researching weather patterns and discussing how forecasts are presented. Then, using their creativity and communication skills, each pair thoughtfully planned out their presentation, deciding who would say what, how to use gestures, and where to place weather symbols on the map.
Taking on the role of meteorologists from the KSA Met Office, the children confidently stepped up to the front of the class to deliver their forecasts using a large map of the UK and weather symbols. There were cloudy spells, bursts of sunshine, heavy rain and plenty of enthusiastic presenting!
Throughout the activity, the children demonstrated a wide range of KSA characteristics:
-
Teamwork and community as they worked together to plan and practise,
-
Creativity in their presentation styles and use of language,
-
Leadership and confidence while presenting to their peers,
-
And of course, kindness as they supported and encouraged one another.
It was a brilliant blend of geography, drama, and collaboration, and a fantastic way to deepen their understanding of how weather impacts daily life. Well done Year 3 future forecasters in the making!
