Young Shakespeare Company inspire Year 6

On Tuesday, Year 6 were treated to a fabulous morning of Shakespeare from the Young Shakespeare Company. Welcoming their peers from King’s Hawford to the John Moore Theatre, Year 6 soon set about making new friends and greeting familiar faces before being entertained by the professional actors and storytellers from the touring theatre company.

Four talented Young Shakespeare Company actors performed Shakespeare’s enchanting comic tale in a fast-moving, fully-costumed interactive production of  A Midsummer Night’s Dream. At times, the whole audience was involved in creating the scenes and individual children dressed up and became key characters in the play. Drama and language activities engaged the children, and they were asked to explore the motives, thoughts and feelings of the characters. Staff and children were thoroughly entertained with many “laugh out loud” moments.

Buzzing from the experience, children from both schools went on to enjoy a joint playtime before working in groups to untangle Oberon’s Spell and create their own versions. A joint lunchtime concluded the productive and entertaining morning.
