A Super Start for Reception

Reception have made the most wonderful start to school life! From the very first day, the children have embraced each new challenge with big smiles and a brilliant “can-do” attitude. They have worked so hard to learn daily routines and are already showing how ready they are for all the adventures ahead.

This week, the children have particularly enjoyed their Phonics sessions as they begin their exciting reading and writing journey. Alongside this, they’ve had so much fun in their specialist lessons, from splashing in swimming to moving in PE and Games, singing in Music, and even learning their very first words in French. What little stars they have been.

Reception also have a special classroom tradition called the Bear Jar. Bears are added to the jar to celebrate a wide range of achievements, from great listening and trying hard with learning, to acts of kindness, sharing, and caring for others. The children have truly impressed this week, filling the Bear Jar within their very first week at school!

To celebrate this wonderful achievement, the children enjoyed a special trip to GoodRoots, our friendly local coffee shop, where they were treated to a delicious slice of rocky road. A perfect way to mark a brilliant first week!
